The careful containment, treatment and elimination of biological waste is a vital part of any healthcare industry to ensure, amongst other things, infected waste does not pose a hazard to people’s health.
SEPCO Environment plants uses the latest technology (advanced biological waste treatment) which is environmental friendly and qualified by PME. These Technologies can be summarized as the following:
1. Microwave Disinfection System
In a microwave system, the waste is thoroughly disinfected using the moist heat generated by the microwaves. The waste treated in microwave is totally unrecognizable and is safer than typical municipal solid

| waste. There aren’t
any liquid effluent and hazardous air emissions from The
microwave systems. The operation of the system is carried
out in total silence. The big advantage of microwave technology
is that it heats material from inside out providing an
extraordinarily level of disinfection.
Type of waste

or potentially infectious, including pathological waste
and all sharps object whether infectious or not.
2. Autoclave
We are proud to
present our own designed and locally manufactured autoclave
called SepcoClave. In an autoclave the infectious
waste is sterilized with steam. For effective and efficient
sterilization the degree of steam penetration will be
of utmost importance. SepcoClave high vacuum and high pressure systems
ensure thorough and uniform penetration of steam into
the biological waste to be treated. Thus the waste is completely
sterilized in autoclaves. Afterwards, the waste is shredded
into unrecognizable reduced size. Type of waste

3. Thermal Oxidation Unit |
All pharmaceutical
products, drugs, drug residuals and therapeutic chemicals
that have been returned from wards or have been spilled,
outdated, contaminated, or are to be discharged because
they are no longer required. Any substance, liquid or
solid which is toxic, corrosive, carcinogenic, mutagenious
or genotoxic (Cytotoxics) waste can be treated by our
thermal oxidation units fitted with air emission control
system to comply with PME and international environmental
standards.
SEPCO Environment also owns a fleet of trucks specially made for transporting
biological waste from the assembling points to the
treatment stations, according to the conditions
set by the PME, in addition to the ministries of
health and Transportation.
